Along with local and national organisations, Cheshire Wildlife Trust is a key partner in the delivery of the Saltscape Landscape Partnership, a three-year Heritage Lottery funded programme delivering £1.4 million of investment in projects designed to protect and restore the unique salt heritage and landscape.

What is Saltscape?

The Saltscape is an area of central Cheshire extending along the river Weaver from Frodsham to the salt towns of Northwich, Winsford and Middlewich. The landscape owes much of its distinctive character to man’s exploitation of salt, creating a landscape rare both nationally and internationally.

The partnerships aims to make the Saltscape a better area to work, live and visit by reconnecting people with their landscape and heritage and Cheshire Wildlife Trust's focus in this project is about making spaces even better for wildlife.

How are we involved?

Our conservation teams are currently working on restoring a handful of existing Local Wildlife Sites that have been in poor condition and require a range of work to reverse their decline and transform them into viable, thriving habitats.
