Can you name our beer?

Merlin’s Micro BreweryMerlin’s Micro Brewery

Cheshire based, Merlin’s Micro Brewery, have teamed up with Cheshire Wildlife Trust to create a new amber ale which will be sold in support of our work. Can you help us think of a suitable name for the new beer? Enter our competition and yours could become the chosen name.

The brewery

Merlin’s Micro Brewery, have been brewing in Arclid, east Cheshire for eight years. They started as a husband and wife team (David and Sue) with help from their three children, but have recently recruited their daughter Sarah as permanent fixture at the brewery.

Since 2010, they have won a total of ten awards including the Champion Beer of Cheshire annual competition. The brewery always strives to be as environmentally-friendly as possible; they only use renewable energy, and have on-site reed beds to return waste water to the earth. The yeast and hops are spread on the farmer's land and the spent grain goes to feed the farmer's cattle on the adjoining farm. They are proud to now go one step further and show their support for Cheshire Wildlife Trust.

The beer

The beer will be a 4% amber ale made using English malts and hops and will be sold as bottles and on draught, co-branded as Merlin’s Micro Brewery and Cheshire Wildlife Trust.

15% of all sales will be donated to Cheshire Wildlife Trust to support our work.

The competition - choosing a name

Although the brewery normally have Arthurian themed names, they are happy for the name of this new beer to link to wildlife/conservation

The name needs to be no more than 12 characters (including spaces).

The winner's name idea will have their idea printed on the bottle and taps. They will also win a tour of the brewery, a polo shirt, a hoodie and a case of the beer to take home.

Good luck!
