New Trustee Bios
Sandra Donnelly
Sandra holds a degree in Business Economics and started her career as a project manager for an international bank, but pivoted career to education after travelling extensively through developing economies in the late 90s and early 2000s. Her eyes were opened to the reality of both climate change and the social impact of poor business practices, leading to rethink her career path to teaching business and economics and the places and spaces where she could promote environmental and social justice. A few decades later, she is now a leader of sustainability teaching at a university business school.
Sandra has extensive educational leadership, from Key Stage 3 to Level 7, and governance experience across a diverse range of educational contexts. She has recently contributed to the development of the new A Level Business Studies specification, which now introduces ethics and sustainability. These overarching themes will encourage students to think more critically about the role of business in society. She is a Carbon Literacy Accredited Trainer and Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute. She was formerly a trustee of Chester Zoo, where she continues to serve on the ethics committee, and provides pro-bono support to social enterprises.
Sandra and her family continue to travel to wildlife conservation projects and community development projects, sharing the stories and her learning through her teaching. She is as passionate about our local ecosystems and the importance of nature for wellbeing. On days off she will often be found with her canine running buddy on trails in many of the important landscapes the trust works so hard to protect.
Amy Lemberger
Amy is an experienced risk, governance and cybersecurity leader who works with boards and senior leadership teams to help organisations understand and manage risk, strengthen governance and build resilience. She holds an MBA alongside professional qualifications in risk, governance and cybersecurity and has worked across a range of sectors.
Outside work, Amy is a keen scuba diver, runner and open-water swimmer, and being active outdoors is an important part of her life. Spending time in nature has a positive impact on her wellbeing and has given her a strong personal appreciation of the importance of protecting natural spaces so that others can enjoy and benefit from them too.
As a Trustee, Amy brings her experience of risk, governance, strategy and cybersecurity to help Cheshire Wildlife Trust deliver its ambitions while remaining a strong, resilient and well-governed organisation.
Charlie Knowles
Charlie has lived on the Wirral for over 10 years and has a background in environmental science, having studied at the University of Liverpool. He began his career working in Wirral Council’s tree management department and now works for The Tree Council, where he continues to work to protect and enhance the UK’s trees and green spaces.
Charlie is particularly passionate about youth engagement and ensuring that everyone has equitable access to nature and green spaces. He is committed to increasing diversity within the environmental sector and making sure that young people and a wider range of voices are represented in conversations about the future of our natural environment.
Charlie is also a member of the Woodland Trust Youth Council, where he advocates for equitable tree cover, the protection of ancient trees and giving young people a meaningful voice in environmental decision-making.
Outside of work and volunteering, Charlie enjoys exploring the green spaces of the Wirral and beyond with his dog, Harris. He is excited to bring his experience and passion for youth voice, trees and accessible nature to Cheshire Wildlife Trust.
