About the event

With the right advice and guidance, setting up a community group can be a straightforward process. In this webinar, we'll be joined by Cheshire West Voluntary Action to walk you through all the key practical steps that are often overlooked when setting up a new group.

This session can also serve as a useful refresher for existing community groups.

What you'll learn:

  • Choosing the right structure: informal group, constituted group, CIO or CIC
  • Writing a simple constitution
  • Advice on setting up a community bank account
  • Health and safety, including risk assessments and insurance
  • How to become grant-ready and prepared to apply for funding

Whether you're at the early stages of an idea or looking to formalise an existing group, this session will help you understand what needs to be in place, avoid common pitfalls, and feel more confident about taking your next steps.

The webinar will run for 1 hour and 15 minutes, followed by 15 minutes for questions and discussion.

About the speakers

We’ll be joined by the wonderful Michael and Laura from Cheshire West Voluntary Action, who provide a wide range of support to community groups, charities and volunteers across Cheshire West and Chester.
