This is a chance to make a tangible difference to Cheshire’s landscape at a time when nature urgently needs it.

We’re looking for someone who knows how to turn ambition for nature recovery into action on the ground by working with farmers and landowners to create and restore high biodiversity value woodland and species-rich grassland.

We’re recruiting one person, but we’re open to appointing at either Senior or Principal level. You might be an experienced habitat creation specialist ready to take ownership of complex projects, or you might bring the depth of knowledge and experience to become one of the people driving this work forward across the Trust.

Who are we looking for?

You’ll need to be comfortable out in the landscape, talking to farmers and landowners, working through practical problems, bringing contractors and partners together and keeping momentum when a project gets complicated.

You’ll have strong knowledge of woodland and grassland habitats, conservation and land management, farming systems and nature-friendly approaches, together with the judgement to turn that knowledge into practical action. 

Senior Habitat Creation Officer remit: Lead the delivery of woodland and grassland creation projects, working with landowners and contractors to design and implement high-quality habitat restoration schemes while providing technical expertise and project management. (Based in East of County with travel across Cheshire)

Principal Habitat Creation Officer remit: Provide strategic and technical leadership for woodland and grassland habitat creation, leading complex projects, shaping future programmes and services, building partnerships, and acting as the Trust’s principal source of expertise and technical assurance. (Based at our Malpas HQ with travel across Cheshire)
