Our newest nature reserve

Our newest nature reserve

Exciting news!

We’re delighted to announce that we’ve bought a new 30-acre nature reserve! Greenbooth Nature Reserve is located in a secluded part of the Peak District National Park, between Whaley Bridge, Buxton and Rainow.

A huge thank you to everyone who has donated to help us reach this amazing milestone. Everyone who has helped buy and rewild 3mx3m squares and has chosen to have their patch here, will now be able to see the exact location of their patch at Greenbooth Nature Reserve!

We’re thrilled to have bought our new nature reserve, but the work doesn’t stop there. By 2030, we want to see 30% of land and sea protected and well managed for nature. To help achieve this ambitious goal, we want to continue to increase the area of land in our care.

How does this fit into our wider work?

We are calling for at least 30% of our land and sea to be connected, protected and managed for nature’s recovery by 2030 – a Nature Recovery Network.

We estimate around 22% of Cheshire, Halton, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Warrington and Wirral’s land is good for nature. To reach 30% we must double our woodlands, restore all drained peatlands, triple our wetlands and create 10,000 football pitches worth of species-rich grasslands.

We will play a key role by growing our work with landowners and communities. We’ll continue to look after existing nature reserves, but also want to double the amount of land in our protection to 2,500 acres by 2030.

To make a difference to nature’s decline, we must be ambitious.
