Cheshire Wildlife Trust needs YOU

Cheshire Wildlife Trust is growing its team to help achieve its big ambition of at least 1 in 4 people taking action for nature’s recovery by 2030. The Trust is looking for people who can use their skills to help others including community groups, schools, and businesses to do more for nature and wildlife in their area.

If you have the passion and drive to double the amount of wildlife and wild areas in the region, Cheshire Wildlife Trust would like to hear from you.

Our natural world is in trouble: 80% of our carbon storing peatlands are damaged; 41% of our insects and pollinators are threatened with extinction; 50% of hedgehogs have been lost from our countryside; and 92% of seagrass beds have been lost around the UK.

However, there is still hope. The science shows that if just one person in every four takes action, this can be enough to start a movement and change the minds and behaviour of the majority. Could you help the Trust achieve this?

“There's never been a more important time to invest in the nature in our own backyard.” – Sir David Attenborough, Wild Isles

Cheshire Wildlife Trust is currently hiring for six vacancies in their growing engagement team, to deliver work across Cheshire, Halton, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Warrington and Wirral. Successful candidates will be determined to create the change our natural world so desperately needs. You’ll be part of bringing wildlife back to Cheshire whilst working with incredible people from all walks of life that share your passion.

Jo Darlington, Director of Fundraising & Engagement at Cheshire Wildlife Trust says:

“Cheshire Wildlife Trust is looking for passionate and energetic people who share our vision for a Wilder Future. People who can connect with local communities, businesses, and schools to double the space we currently give to nature.

According to recent figures, job vacancies in the UK have fallen for the eighth time in a row, but for Cheshire Wildlife Trust that is simply not true. Thanks to the incredible support from our members, donors, and funders, we’re able to grow our team which allows us to expand our efforts to bring wildlife back.”

Eight out of 10 of us now live in towns and cities. We live in our homes. We stream films. We follow social media. We drive in our cars. Some of us have lost the words to name nature because we no longer see wildlife every day. But for places such as Stockport, the town is buzzing with businesses, local artists, schools and community groups all taking action to bring wildlife back to the town.

Eve Taylor, who is the Senior Rewilding Stockport Officer and recently collected the ‘Environmental Project Award’ for the Rewilding Stockport project said: “It is wonderful to be working in my hometown, working with people and communities who have incredible stories and such a passion for giving back and improving their local area for wildlife. There’s a real buzz in Stockport - it’s so exciting to be part of our work there.”

Jo Darlington said: At Cheshire Wildlife Trust, you’re surrounded by likeminded people who share a passion for the natural world which makes it a great place to work.  We offer   outdoor working, flexible working environment and a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion as well as on-the-job training and development.”

“Working for a Wildlife Trust is a job like no other. In collaboration with 46 other Wildlife Trusts around the country, we’re able think nationally, whilst acting locally. To share, learn and grow across the entire movement of people working to bring nature back is a feeling like no other.”
