Explore the gardens of Clemley House and Ashton Grange in support of Cheshire Wildlife Trust

Explore the impressive gardens of Clemley House (Sunday 13th June) and Ashton Grange (Sunday 27th June) this summer to inspire you to create your own wildlife-friendly gardens. Both of these fantastic gardens are being opened in support of Cheshire Wildlife Trust. All proceeds from the events will help the Trust’s work to bring wildlife back across the county.

To limit numbers and keep everyone safe, visitors are encouraged to  purchase a timed entry ticket in advance from www.cheshirewildlifetrust.org.uk/events

Clemley House
Clemley House has a fantastic 2 acre organic, wildlife friendly, gold award winning cottage garden. It’s home to an orchard, three wildlife ponds, perennial wildflower meadow and fruit and vegetable areas.  There’s also a shepherd’s hut, summer house, barn owl box and many other nest and bat boxes!

Ashton Grange
Ashton Grange has a delightful 2½ acre garden which includes borders, shrubberies, mature trees and spacious lawns. There is also a large wildlife friendly pond, over 100 rhododendron of named varieties and several tree carvings and stone and willow sculptures around the garden.

In addition to the garden there is a 4 acre mature woodland with pathways and a 1½ acre wildflower meadow that was sown in 2018 with the help of Cheshire Wildlife Trust and to which over 600 wildflower plugs were added in 2020. In December 2018 a new 3 acre native woodland was planted.  .
In all, visitors are welcome to wander around nearly 20 acres of meadows, woods and gardens. There will be a plant stall with a selection of plants from the garden.

Our Wild about Gardens team will be at both events with lots of gardening tips including advice on how to encourage butterflies and other insects into your garden. Visitors are welcome to bring picnics.

Jo Darlington, Director of Fundraising and Engagement at Cheshire Wildlife Trust said:
“We’re always so grateful to those who open their gardens in support of the Trust. They’re beautiful gardens with wildlife at the heart of their designs. The gardens provide lots of inspiration for gardeners or those who have moved into new builds as well as a lovely afternoon out with family.  The ponds, cottage gardens, woodlands and of course the wildflower meadow we helped to establish at Ashton Grange are just a few of the highlights to look out for.”
