More information about sponsoring a square at Greenbooth Nature Reserve
My certificate has a mistake on it – can it be fixed?
The certificate you receive via email is generated directly from what you have submitted on your order form. However, we're able to alter simple mistakes such as spelling errors and email you a new certificate.
Can you send me a printed copy of my certificate?
Unfortunately we're unable to print and post certificates. Our email certificates are designed to be printed at home.
Can I visit my square?
A network of public footpaths connect the site, including a route that that runs diagonally across the reserve from Green Stack farm in the South East to Green Booth Farm in the North West. We urge visitors to stick to the footpaths. However, be aware that this is a remote location and the paths are unsurfaced.
We urge visitors to stick to the footpaths and discourage anyone from trying to find the exact location of their patch once on site.
The nearest car park is Pym Chair Car Park, SK10 5XL.
** Please note that the nature reserve is not accessible via Greenbooth Farm. **
How do I find the location of my square?
We allocate your square using what3words. If you're not familiar with it, don't worry.
What is what3words?
what3words has divided the entire world into 3m squares and given each square a unique identifier made from three words. The words are distributed by a mathematical algorithm; they are fixed and will never change.
How do I find my patch?
Visit the what3words website and input the 3-word location of your patch. If you have multiple codes, you must search each one separately. To see 'satellite view', click on the circle in the bottom right-hand corner of the map (as shown in the example below).

Do I need an app to use what3words?
No. Although there is a what3words app, it’s a free to use website and can be accessed on a PC, laptop, tablet or phone.
Can I see my square on an online map of the site?
Yes. Visit the What3Words website (or app) and input your 3-word code. You will then be able to see its location on the map.
There are instructions on the certificate email of how to see ‘satellite’ view of the site. You can find out more about finding out the GPS coordinates of what3words locations here.
Can I change the location of my square?
We’re afraid not. Due to the number of squares on the site, they have been allocated via an automatic mathematical algorithm; they are fixed and will never change.
Can I scatter ashes at the reserve?
We understand why people wish to scatter ashes in our beautiful nature reserves. However, it’s important to protect our precious and vulnerable wildlife. Our priority is to protect and enhance natural habitats - many of which are delicate ecosystems, home to rare and vulnerable species.
Ashes can change the soil chemistry and damage its fragile balance, which is why we respectfully ask that ashes are not scattered in certain habitats which are particularly sensitive and already under threat.
We do have many lovely areas which are less sensitive, and we are happy for ashes to be scattered carefully in these. All of our nature reserves are unique, so we are happy to consider requests on an individual basis and to discuss your requirements with you.
Can I plant something on my square as a memorial?
Unfortunately, not. We do offer in-memory services on some of our reserves, such as memory leaves. There are currently no plans for this at Greenbooth Nature Reserve. However, if this changes, we will inform all anyone who has sponsored a patch.
What will the money from my sponsorship do at the nature reserve?
Your kind donation will support our work bringing wildlife back to Greenbooth Nature Reserve for the next 10 years.
