Why take action for nature?

80% in the UK care about the environment and want to take action!*

The fact that you've landed here means you're already in that 80% of people in the UK who recognise that nature is in crisis and you want to take action to support its recovery.

So what does 'Take Action' actually mean in practice? The truth is varies – there are big actions and small actions and they all count. There are also different motivations for wanting to take action – yours might be wanting to safeguard the future for our young people. Or perhaps are also more personal reasons – such as for your mental or physical health. Whatever your motivation, you’re in the right place to start taking action!

So why sign up? Well, it’s simple really – by doing so you're raising your hand and saying "I'm with nature". You’ll be pledging your support to the movement in the four ways listed above.  You'll be part of a growing community of wildlife warriors. Along the way you’ll be getting ‘Action of the week’ direct to your inbox and inspiration from across Cheshire on what the community are up to. You will also be able to share your stories and we’ll be sharing them far and wide, to inspire others to join.

Together we are fighting to…

Bring wildlife back

Give everyone equal and easy access to wildlife-rich spaces

Defend Nature from pollution and careless development

Make sure our kids grow up knowing the wonder of nature

Ensure the next government makes the nature and climate emergencies their main priority

"As a society we are so disconnected from our local wildlife and when we’re disconnected from our natural world we’re not going to fight for it. We want to make people fall in love with nature and then one day they might start taking action for it."

(Becky, Wilder Champion from Chester)

Get inspired - hear from people already doing amazing things for nature and wildlife.

Across Cheshire there's a growing network of Wildlife Champions. They're helping nature and wildlife by transforming wasted spaces, planting pollinator-friendly plants and trees. They're making it easier for people in their communities to connect with wildlife. Could you be a Champion for wildlife in your community?

Live happier. Live healthier. Live everyday wild!

Just in case you needed another reason to join...

Many of you might have taken part in our annual 30 Days Wild challenge, which is our campaign to get people to engage with nature every day each June. Did you know that the University of Derby has conducted evaluations for 2015, 2016 and 2017 and they found that those taking part were found to have sustained increases in happiness, health, connection to nature and pro-nature behaviours. By signing up here you will be pledging to live #EverydayWild!

Let's make Cheshire wilder, together.
