Name our beavers

* Our competition has now closed. Thank you to everyone who entered. We will be announcing the winning names on Wednesday 7th April *

Since we released a pair of beavers into Hatchmere Nature Reserve, they've been settling in and exploring their new Cheshire home. But, we still need to name them and we need your help! We'd love you to choose their names.

How to enter

Fill out the form below and tell us your chosen name. If you'd like to tell us why you've picked this name, we'd love to know! One of the names will be chosen from entries submitted by a local school and the other from entries submitted by our supporters, followers and the general public. Closing date for entry is 5pm on  Wednesday 31st March 2021

Meet our beavers

If you need a little bit of inspiration, meet our beavers!

Our female (right) is the smaller of our beavers, weighing around 9kg when she was released. She is the nosey beaver and often comes out to check on any noise or activity around the pond! That being said, she rarely ventures too far from the release pond. She’s definitely a home maker and is usually the one seen dragging material to the recently created lodge.

Our male (left) is the larger of our pair, weighing 15kg when he was released. He’s always on a mission, marching around the enclosure every night. Beavers are highly territorial so he is definitely keeping an eye on his turf. He’s always walking with purpose and rarely stops to sniff the air. Our cameras have often caught him having a nap mid-way through the night. Has taken to a small pond on the edge of the site, where he must get some peace and quiet.
