π± Grown 5,000 trees and 35,000 wildflower plug plants at our Bickley Hall Farm nursery.
π³ Planted over 23,000 carbon storing trees β the right species in the right places.
π§ Restored broken rivers such as the Dee, the Dane and the Gowy and support species recovery work on over 6km of river for species such as European eels and water voles.
πΈ Restored and created over 50 hectares of wetland and reedbed habitat.
πΌ Restored and planted over 65 hectares of wildflower meadow for bees, butterflies and beetles.
π¦ Created and restored 48 wildlife ponds and scrapes for invertebrates and amphibians and the wading birds that feed on them.
π Bought our newest nature reserve, Greenbooth, providing a new haven for wildlife to thrive in the Peak District.
Working in partnership to stand up for nature
π Defended over 2,338 hectares of nature by responding to local planning applications and working with developers.
π Worked with over 140 farmers, landowners and land managers, helping them work with nature to provide food, homes for wildlife and natural solutions to climate change.
π³οΈ Worked with 27 local MPs and councillors to keep nature on the agenda in the build up to the General Election and beyond.
π» Trained 10 campaigners through our first ever Campaigner Academy, enabling people to stand up for nature in their communities.
π Stood up for bees and call for a ban on bee kill pesticides.
π¬ Input into a landmark report in partnership with WWF and RSPB, mapping the amount of blue carbon stores in seabed habitats including in the Irish Sea and along the Welsh Coast.
πΎ Attended the Restore Nature Now march in London, joining over 60,000 people from across the UK in demanding better for nature
Connecting people with nature
π§βπ€βπ§ Worked with over 300 members of our Wild Network who are helping wildlife in their local communities.
π¦ Inspired the transformation of urban spaces in Stockport to be made better for communities and wildlife by creating hedgehog highways, swift boxes, pollinator patches, green roofs and street art, such as the Thomas Street bridge mural!
βοΈ Met over 3,200 people at events, inspiring them to act for wildlife where they live, work and play.
π Hosted our first ever careers webinar, offering support and advice to over 100 of the next generation of conservationists.
π‘ Created better access to nature in urban communities by working with 37 local projects in Crewe as part of Nextdoor Nature.
π§ Worked with 124 schools in our Wilder Education Network, reaching over 3,500 children who learn about and take action for their local natural world.
π Supported 1,500 children and 187 teachers to join us on school trips and 34 college students gain hands-on experience with green careers.
π Protected your local coast through the Our Dee Estuary partnership, creating and restoring habitats and working with communities, Living Seas North West and our work to defend the Mersey Estuary.
