World Mental Health Day

During turbulent and worrying times, we all need a chance to take a step back and think about our own wellbeing. World Mental Health Day offers an opportunity to share the important role the natural world plays in our wellbeing.

Monday 10th October was World Mental Health Day.

This year’s theme, set by the World Federation for Mental Health is to ‘make mental health and wellbeing for all a global priority.'

During turbulent and worrying times, we all need a chance to take a step back and think about our own wellbeing. World Mental Health Day offers an opportunity to share the important role the natural world plays in our wellbeing.

Scientific research has proven that being surrounded by wildlife benefits both our physical and mental health. Whether it’s going outside to stretch your legs and get some fresh air, listening to the birds or appreciating the leaves changing colour as autumn sets in.

We're here for nature and for you

As your local Wildlife Trust, we want to make sure that you feel connected, happy and keep protecting the natural world we all cherish so much. Every day, we are working to bring wildlife to more people, and more people to wildlife.

A Breath of Fresh Air is a recent collaboration with Cheshire Dance, funded by Cheshire Community Fund. Based on our successful Wellbeing with Nature sessions, participants are guided through the five ways to nature connection, whilst incorporating gentle forms of movement and stretching.

100% of participants told us that they felt more connected to nature following the sessions and 92% felt an improvement in their personal wellbeing – which is fantastic!

“I am really thankful for this course.  I was apprehensive and wasn’t sure it would be my ‘thing’ but it has been wonderful and I feel really connected to nature and the other people in the group." - Feedback from a participant of our recent sessions
